This is a mandala I have done for an individual, to facilitate his journey of spiritual awakening.
Seen in the mandala are the Merkabah, the octahedran (camouflaged), the letters M and W in gold and a daisy, in the background of the ocean – symbols that I received in a meditation I did on behalf of this individual. Both the Merkabah and the M & W symbols are associated with Jewish mysticism, which is interesting considering that the person for whom the mandala was done is from a Sri Lankan Buddhist background – which once again illustrates the oneness that spirituality represents.
‘Merkabah’ comes from a Hebrew word meaning ‘chariot’ or ‘vehicle’, and can also be defined as light, spirit, body. It is often referred to as the ‘throne of God’. The Merkabah symbol is a shape made of 2 intersecting tetrahedrons that spin in opposite directions, creating a 3-dimensional energy field. It is said that this vehicle of light around one’s body can be activated with practiced meditation and breathing techniques. The Merkabah is said to provide protection and transport one’s consciousness to higher dimensions, and facilitates the enlightenment process and communication with higher forms of consciousness (www.soulflower.com).
One of the spiritual meanings of the letter M correlates with Mem in the Hebrew alphabet, which is the 13th letter whose element is water. Water is the foundation of everything, representing the mother. When we reverse M, we have W, which is the sacred womb that bears everything on this planet. M is also the 13th tarot card – Death – which represents transformation from the lower consciousness to the higher, being born in new awareness. It is an ego death that enables the higher self to be elevated to attain enlightenment. M symbolizes the continual transition between life and death, light and dark, wisdom and ignorance (www.wisdomtavern.com). Interestingly, Merkabah is also considered to be the chariot of Mem.
Daisies are a symbol of rebirth, new beginnings and purity.
