This mandala was done for a client who has embarked on a deep quest to awaken the divine feminine within.
The mandala includes some of the key symbols I received through a series of visions I had during some healing meditations I did for her, followed by and validated through signs that I received through synchronicity. The 6-pointed star or the hexagram known as the Star of David (Magen David in Hebrew) or the Shiva-Shakthi – one of the oldest universal symbols – represents the union of the divine masculine associated with transcendence (the upward triangle) and the divine feminine associated with manifestation (the downward triangle). This is believed to be symbolic of the divine union of consciousness and energy, a cosmic union that takes place in the Crown Chakra, giving birth to God or in other words, triggering transformation in the form of spiritual enlightenment. It is this transformation that is symbolized through the rainbow-coloured butterfly at the centre, the colours representing the activation and calibration of the 7 chakras. The crystals of clear quartz and ruby, which the 2 triangles consist of, also correspond to the energies of the divine masculine and feminine. These divine energies and the transformation process are intensified with the colour grey, enabling us to see the duality of the masculine and the feminine/ying and yang simultaneously.
All these symbols within the mandala are enclosed within the magical and arguably the most powerful geometric shape of the hexagon. The hexagon represents the number 6, which most commonly denotes harmony and balance although it has many other additional meanings including love, truth, union and perfection. Hence in the context of this mandala, the number 6 acts as a symbol of perfect and harmonious union. One of the esoteric interpretations of the hexagon relates to unconscious content penetrating the conscious mind, resulting in self-realization, which, interestingly, is the core purpose and function of a mandala as well. The pattern running around the perimeter of the mandala comprise of the numbers 6 and 9, representing love (feminine) and conflict (masculine) respectively, corresponding to the planets Venus and Mars. Interestingly, 6 and 9 adds to 15, which can be reduced to number 6 again, which embodies the divine feminine.
The core message for my client was that in her journey to discover her divine feminine, it is vital for her to acknowledge and embrace the divine masculine within her as well, for it is in the unification of the divine masculine and the divine feminine that she would find balance and wholeness. The importance of opening her heart to the experience and expression of love in this quest was also embedded in this message.
