Stories of Families
Family 1 (2014/15)
This family is the very first family we supported in response to a request made by the local government authority in 2014. This is a family of 2 girls and a boy who were living with their father since their mother had abandoned them 2 years back.
Family 2 (2015/16)
The second family that was supported comprised of 3 children. Their father has committed suicide in 2006 after which the mother has remarried and relocated to another area, leaving the children behind with their maternal grandmother.
Family 3 (2016/17)
The third family that we supported comprised of 4 children. Their mother was shouldering the entire responsibility of bringing up the children as the father is psychologically impaired due to a head injury caused during construction work.
Family 4 (2017/18)
This family comprises of 3 children. Their 50-year-old father has abandoned them and has got married to another woman and was in remand with charges of multiple marriages. Their mother was under treatment for a benign throat cancer.
Family 5 (2019/20)
This family constitutes of 5 children and their 51-year-old father. The children’s mother had abandoned the family. The 2 youngest children were placed in residential care due to the absence of a proper house and the father's inability to care for them.
Family 6 (2021/22)
This is a family of 5 children, i.e. 3 boys and 2 girls, who live with both their parents in a small house made on their own with old saris. This is the latest project being carried out under the BHBF programme, and is still in progress.
